JVFD deals with bees and vehicle fires
 | | Members of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department responded to several calls during the past week. Top photo: Trucks were dispatched to a call alerting them to the 1807 Walker Springs Road residence of Miriam and Dane Daugherty. Dane had apparently attempted to get rid of some bees, around a window frame on the front side of the home by smoking them out. The wooden frame became too hot and caught fire. When firefighters removed the covering from around the frame, a honeycomb was discovered inside. Bottom photo: The JVFD responded to a report of a vehicle fire, Tuesday afternoon, on Walker Springs Road just past Rabbit Creek Road. When they arrived on the scene the found a 1998 Chevrolet pickup burning inside the cab from an apparent short in the wiring. Owner of the truck, Elijah Peoples of Barlow Bend, said he was returning home from working in Mobile when smoke began coming from underneath the dash. "So, I pulled over, removed my things and got out of the truck," he added. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the inside of the pickup was destroyed. (SA photos by Evan Carden) |
