Chatom men to face theft, forgery charges Two Chatom men were arrested Sunday and charged with burglary following an alleged breaking and entering of a local residence. Carl Henry Beech Jr., 20, and Dillon Morgan, 19, face charges ranging from third degree burglary to possession of a forged instrument after they allegedly broke into the residence of Peggy and Chuck Reynolds sometime between Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9 and took several checks. According to Chatom police reports, the investigation, which was led by Officer Terry Fescina, pointed to Beech and Morgan as the suspects. It is also believed that one or both of the men reentered the home sometime Sunday and stole more checks. They allegedly tried to cash one of the stolen checks later that day. Officers arrested the pair Sunday evening and they are currently being held in the Washington County Jail waiting for a bond hearing with the judge. Beech is charged with two counts of third degree burglary, two counts of second degree forgery, possession of a forged instrument, theft of property and criminal trespassing. Morgan is charged with possession of a forged instrument, criminal trespass and negotiation of a worthless negotiable instrument.
Officer Todd Taylor assisted in the investigation.
