The Clarke County High School Bulldogs hung tough but fell 21-6 to the visiting Tigers of T.R. Miller last Friday night at H.G. Prim Stadium in Grove Hill.

The Bulldog defense forced Miller to punt after three plays and the offense took over at their own 40-yard line. They moved to the Tiger 24-yard line before turning the ball over on downs.

T.R. Miller put together a pair of first downs before their drive stalled and they were forced to punt again.

After the kick CCHS started at their own 26-yard line. Behind the running of tailback Jamarcus Robinson and Kenneth Kimbrough they moved steadily downfield.

Kimbrough capped the eightplay drive with a 1-yard plunge. The kick sailed wide left but with 10:36 left in the half, CCHS led 6-0.

Miller took the ensuing possession and in quick fashion got on the board themselves. Quarterback Baxley Raines called his own number on a 1- yard keeper, then added the PAT to give the Tigers a 7-6 lead with 8:00 minutes left in the first half.

Following a Bulldog punt T.R. Miller again put together a scoring drive with Justin Gomez finishing things off with a 5- yard dash. The kick from Raines increased the lead to 14-6 as the first half came to a close.

A bad snap late in the third quarter gave the Tigers a short field to work on. Gomez capped the short drive with a 2-yard run. Raines' kick increased the lead to 21-6 with 2:53 left in the third.

The Bulldogs took the ensuing possession and quickly drove inside the Miller 10-yard line. The drive ended at the 7- yard line as CCHS turned it over on downs.

Clarke County was able to dive as deep as the 39-yard line

but that was as close as they would come as the third-ranked 4A Tigers won 21-6.

Robinson led all rushers with 147 yards on 24 carries. Kimbrough added 87 yards on 17 carries.

Gomez paced Miller with 110 yards on 15 carries and a pair of scores.

The Bulldogs (0-1, 0-0) look to get into the win column this week when they host Calhoun (0-1,0-0). The game had originally been scheduled to be played in Letohatchee but the venue was changed early last week.

Clarke County will begin region play in their newly aligned 3A Region 1 next week.

T.R. Miller will begin play in their brand new 4A Region 1 by hosting Southside-Selma in Brewton.

The Calhoun tigers lost to the Flying Squadron of Highland Home last week 52-6.

Game time at Prim Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
