Area teams begin play within their respective region
Clarke Co. vs Calhoun- Clarke County is coming off of a tough loss to 4A powerhouse T.R. Miller. Calhoun was defeated 52-6 by Highland Home. Predictions: Jeremy- CCHS 34, CHS 6; Coach Caster- CCHS 35, CHS 8. Clarke Prep vs. Monroe- The Gators (1-1) are coming off of a loss to Faith Academy, in a game that Clarke Prep played very sound. Clarke Prep will try to avenge on that week two loss. Predictions: Jeremy- CPS 34, MA 12; Coach Caster- CPS 21, MA 14. Coffeeville vs Marengo- Coffeeville is coming off of a tough 58-6 loss to A.L. Johnson. Marengo is coming off a tough loss to John Essex. Coffeeville could win this game if their guys can hold out during the game. Predictions: Jeremy- MHS 38, CHS 18; Coach Caster- CHS 14, MHS 6.
Predictions: Jeremy- PA32, JA 19; Coach Caster- JA 14, PA 7. Jackson vs Monroe Co.-The Aggies is coming off a disappointing loss to the rival Leroy Bears. Jackson will have to look past that and forget it and be able to move on into region play against the Tigers of Monroe County. The key to this win is cutting down on the turnovers which occurred in the game against Leroy. Predictions: Jeremy- JHS 27, MCHS 18; Coach Caster- JHS 21, MCHS 7. Leroy vs Keith- It has been five years since these two combatants met up. In 2001, Leroy defeated Keith 54-12. Keith is coming off of a huge win against the Bobcats of R.C. Hatch 48-0 while Leroy defeated their cross-river rival Jackson last week 41-6. The Bears should not have any trouble with Keith in the "Battle of the Bears." Predictions: Jeremy- LHS 62, KHS 6; Coach Caster- LHS 42, KHS 12. McIntosh vs Frisco City- Coach James Rutherford will take his squad over to Monroe County to face-off against the Whippits of Frisco City. Frisco City will try to defend a huge win against rival Excel Panthers. McIntosh was defeated last week by Washington County 40-18. Predictions: Jeremy- FCHS 34, MHS 12; Coach Caster- MHS 21, FCHS 14. Millry vs Fruitdale- This annual county and 1A Region 1 rivalry continues this season from Wildcat Hill in Millry. Millry is coming off of a disappointing loss to Bayside Academy 28-14. Predictions: Jeremy- MHS 26, FHS 13; Coach Caster- MHS 28, FHS 21. Southern Choctaw vs Excel The Southern Choctaw Indians will begin region play against the Panthers from Excel. Excel will try to avenge a very tough loss against Frisco City while Southern Choctaw is coming off of a huge win against county rival, the Choctaw County Tigers. Southern Choctaw should handle Excel easily unless something major goes wrong in the game plan. Predictions: Jeremy- SCHS 42, EHS 12; Coach Caster- SCHS 35, EHS 7. Wash Co. vs Mobile Christian - Washington County is coming off of a 40-18 win over McIntosh while firstyear AHSAA school Mobile Christian is coming off of a 33- 22 defeat of first-year football program Spanish Fort. This game will have playoff implications, even though it is still so early in the season.
