Mark Your Calendar Jackson Peewee Football meeting Sunday The Jackson Peewee Football board meeting is planned for Sunday, Sept. 10, 6 p.m. at the Jackson Municipal Pool. JHS open house Sept. 7 The Jackson High School open house is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7 (today) at 6 p.m. Parents and students are encouraged to attend as progress reports will be passed out. The band will also be performing. There will be a meeting regarding scholarship information in the library at 5:15. GHMH conducting arts & crafts show The Grove Hill Memorial Hospital and the hospital auxiliary will be presenting an Arts and Crafts Show, Health and Safety Fair 2006 and Antique Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The hospital is located at 295 South Jackson Street in Grove Hill. Scheduled events include free health screenings, food booths, health care booths, fire safety information, diabetic information, drug awareness, arts and crafts, entertainment and antique car show. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day. Featured performers include The Dixie River Band (tentative), Glen Patrick, Sharon McCoy, The International Miss Group, The Thomasville Community Choir, Sandy Dunagan, Chris Graham, Sandy Brown, Jennifer Henderson, Taylor Brooks and Kyley and Courtney Dunagan and Stephanie Bayles. Scarbrough-Dixon family reunion The Scarbrough-Dixon family reunion will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Ryan's Restaurant on Highway 43 in Thomasville at 12 noon. Lunch may be purchased from the restaurant. Jackson Medical Center hosting jewelry sale The Jackson Medical Center will be conducting a jewelry sale on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 6:30 a.m. until. More than 10,000 pieces of sterling silver jewelry will be on sale with free engraving on site. Proceeds will benefit Relay for Life. Everyone is invited to attend. JIS hosting education game night The Jackson Intermediate School will be hosting its first education game night on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Students, grades 3-5 and adults, will play reading and math games. JMS Open House is Thursday The Jackson Middle School Open House is Thursday, Sept. 7 (today) from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. LHS PTO Open House Leroy High School PTO will host open house on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. PTO encourages joining the PTO and supporting the school. All PTO members will be eligible for the drawing of door prizes. Jackson Quarterback Club to meet Sept. 12 The Jackson High School Quarterback Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 12, 6 p.m. in the library at the school. Coffeeville VFD sponsoring Shrimp Boil The Coffeeville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a Shrimp Boil, Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highways 69 S and 84 W. Plates will be $8 each or per pound. JHS season tickets for sale Season tickets for the 2006-2007 Jackson High School football season can be purchased in the school office. JHS 1979 championship team to be recognized The Jackson High School Quarterback Club will recognize the members of the JHS 1979 championship football team on Sept. 22 during the pregame ceremony. VFW 5355 meetings The VFW Post 5355 and ladies auxiliary meets the third Thursday of every month, 6 p.m., at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road. Members are urged to attend and new members are welcome. Sickle Cell support Sickle Cell education and support group meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m., at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Diabetic support The Diabetic Support Group meets the first and third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the dining room at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
