Lady Eagles start out 06' volleyball season with win over Monroe
By Jeremy Sellers SA Reporter

The Jackson Academy Lady Eagles opened up their 2006 volleyball season by defeating the Lady Vols of Monroe Academy 25-16 and 25-15.

Last Saturday, the Lady Eagles competed in the Elite Eight Tournament at Faith Academy in Mobile where the top eight teams from a year ago battled it out. Cottage Hill won the tournament by defeating Faith. Faith defeated JA in the first match 13-25, 25-20 and 915.

JA suffered its second loss to Cottage Hill 18-25 and 16-25.

Kayla Coleman received AllTournament honors for the Lady Eagles.

"We had the honor of playing the top teams in the state to help us get better," said Head Coach Jody Roberson. "We played excellent volleyball. We covered the court very well during the tournament at Faith. Our goal for improvement this season is to improve on our blocking. We came out of the Cottage Hill game with nine blocks, which was excellent."
