By Jeremy Sellers SA Reporter

The Leroy Bears picked back up on the winning in their 46-12 preseason game over Washington County Friday night.

Detrick Powell started the scoring for Leroy on the first drive of the game on a 3-yard touchdown run. Patrick Rivers ran the ball in on the extra point, for the two-point conversion, giving Leroy the early 8-0 lead.

With 2:16 remaining in the first quarter, Kyle Pennington completed a touchdown pass for 31 yards. The two-point attempt was snubbed for the Bulldogs.

With 8:03 left in the opening half of play, Powell busted through the line for a 2-yard touchdown run. The PAT by Brittian Schultz failed as Leroy took a 14-6 lead.

With Washington County threatening before heading to the locker room, Leroy's Brandon "Brodie" Jones came away with a huge interception near the Bulldog 38-yard line to send it to the half.

Within the first few minutes of the third quarter, Johnny Williams broke loose for a 48yard touchdown run giving Leroy the 20-6 lead.

With 6:55 in the third, Kyle Pennington once again connected with his receiver for a touchdown, making this a 2012 ballgame.

After a 35-yard kickoff return from Grant Brown on the ensuing kickoff, Ronald Bracey added a huge score for Leroy on a 19-yard touchdown run making it 26-12.

Leroy would add three more touchdowns from that point on, including a returned fumble for 81 yards and a score by Courtney Kimbrough.

Clint Moseley added the final touchdown for Leroy on a QB sneak for 6 yards making it 46-12 in favor of the Bears.

"We played hard for four quarters, just like they did," said senior lineman Bryan Lankford.

"We have got to get to work and get ready for Jackson now," said Leroy Head Coach Danny Powell. "Jackson is well-coached by John Blackmon. He has done a wonderful job over there. They are a very good club.

"Moseley did a wonderful job against Chatom. We have several different weapons and some very skilled players."

"We still have a long way to go," said quarterback Clint Moseley. "There is going to be a lot of people in Jackson Thursday night. It is a huge game and I am excited about being at quarterback."
