Whillock - Turberville united in marriage
The Rev. Wayne Smith, associate pastor of Satsuma Baptist Church officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Benny R. Turberville of Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Whillock of Marianna, Fla. Grandparents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. James E. Davis of Jackson, Floyd R. Turberville of Monroeville and the late Ernestine Turberville, Elfrieda Coon of Marianna and the late Omar Coon, Gloria Whillock of Lutz, Fla. and the late James Whillock. The front walk of the church was decorated with hanging New Orleans-style lanterns filled with mixed flowers, spring rye, ivy and tied with white tulle bows. Satin monogrammed sashes on wreaths of mixed color lilies, roses, gerbera daisies and irises accented the double doors at the entrance to the church. Triple ivy topiaries were placed on each side of the double doors. Below the lighted cross in the church was a large arrangement of hot pink roses, gerbera daisies and larkspur, yellow lilies and daisies, white lilies, roses, purple delphinium, iris and larkspur that was centered on the altar. Four large wooden columns topped with urns containing macho ferns framed the altar. The recesses of the church windows held black New Orleansstyle lanterns filled with mixed flowers, spring rye and English ivy. Jenny and Lee Jackson sang "When God Made You" during the seating of the grandparents, and "The Parents' Prayer" during the seating of the parents. The wedding party entered to "Cannon in D", accompanied by pianist Joy Thomas. "Household of Faith" was performed by Lee Jackson while the bride and groom presented roses to their mothers. The bride wore a formal gown of imported white chiffon. Hand-sewn crystal beads accented the bodice and modified sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice gave way to soft pleats and draped chiffon below the hips. Two trails of chiffon fell from the back of the bodice to create a sweep train. Crystal beads accented the hem of the fingertip veil. She carried a white cascade bouquet of lilies, roses, dendrobium orchids and freesia. Matron of honor was Mrs. Leigh Henson of Wagarville, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jenna Donaldson of Auburn, Stacey Burgess of Birmingham, Katie Blair and Rebekah Warren, both of Montgomery and Erica Anderson of Jackson. They wore tea-length strapless dresses of black satin, with crystal beading accenting the natural waists. They carried hand-tied bouquets of mixed color roses, lilies, asters, iris and tree fern tied with sheer green ribbons. Janie Ann Henson of Wagarville, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore a white sleeveless chiffon gown with floral accents on the empire waist. Attending the bride's book was Jenny Hearn of Jackson. Serving as best man was Matthew Whillock of Birmingham, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Caleb Brunson, Jarred Brunson, Josh Hayes, John Solomon and Adam Temple, all of Dothan. Reception A reception was held at the Kimbell House in Jackson immediately following the ceremony. Asparagus ferns hung around the perimeter of the front and back porches, with planters of ferns and ivy on the porches. Wreaths with the couple's "W" monogram accented the front and back doors. The patio doors were draped with an evergreen garland accented with white hydrangea, hot pink roses and yellow and pink daisies. The brick courtyard was decorated with lattice columns, ivy, gerbera daisies, bougainvillea and urns of petunias. Guests were presented handheld fans that were printed with a picture of the bride and groom, a Scripture and a message from the couple. In the parlor the bride's table held a three-tier square cake with white icing and strawberry filling. The cake was decorated with fresh flowers and topped with the couple's acrylic monogram. The groom's cake was served in the dining room, and was in the shape of an alligator, the University of Florida mascot. The main dining area was decorated with tall columns holding urns with macho ferns. The main table was covered with a white Battenburg cloth and decorated with a tall crystal vase filled with lemons and limes and containing a large arrangement of the bride's chosen flowers. Guests were served an assortment of foods including sliced roast beef, chicken fingers, chicken salad, croissants, pasta, broccoli and potato salads, cheese ring and crackers, fresh fruit and dip, cheese straws and a variety of sweets. Iced tea, mock champagne and personalized bottles of ice cold water were served. The couple danced their first dance to "Cross My Heart" by George Strait and with their parents to "Them They Do". After a honeymoon to Point Clear, the couple will reside in Marietta, Ga. Attendants' Luncheon The wedding party was treated to lunch at the church before the wedding. The luncheon was given by Gina Davis and Susan Davis, aunts of the bride, Amanda Shirley, and Tiffany Davis, cousins of the bride, Loretta Lowery and Sarah Stanley. Attendants where served a variety of sandwiches, fruit salad, cookies, lemonade and tea. Special guests included the parents and grandparents of the bride and groom. Rehearsal Dinner A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents, Linda and Don Whillock, on Friday, July 7 at the Jackson Golf House. Guests were served prime rib, baked chicken, baked potato casserole, rice and gravy, green beans, Mississippi mud cake, banana pudding and bread pudding from a buffet. Floating tea lights and picture confetti of the bridal couple were placed on the tables accented with lighted topiaries. Photos from both parents' weddings and mothers' bridal veils decorated the gift table. The bride and groom presented gifts to their wedding party. Monogrammed handkerchiefs and wedding scrapbooks made by the bride, were presented to the parents. Leigh Henson, sister of the bride, presented a slide show with pictures of the couple from their childhood through college.
Guests included members of the wedding party and their dates, parents, grandparents, and out-of-town guests, Mary and Jimmy Whillock and Kathryn and Randy Robertson, all of Tampa, Fla., Holly Coon of Marianna, Bobbie and John Coon and Robbie Coon, all of Lake City, Fla.
