Last Friday night, Chief Clint Harrell stopped a vehicle for violating the town noise ordinance. Officer Steven Carlisle arrived on the scene and recognized one of the passengers in the vehicle as being a federal fugitive who was said to be armed and dangerous. Officer Carlisle reacted quickly to take the suspect into custody without incident. Anthony Javon Davis, 30, of Dickinson was arrested and taken to the Clarke County Jail where he is being held for the United States Marshall's Office. The charge is violation of probation, original charge armed carjacking. On Saturday morning, Aug. 19, at about 3:20 a.m., Chief Harrell stopped a vehicle for speeding. Chief Harrell determined that the driver Keyon Wooten, 18 of Jackson was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. Harrell began speaking to one of the passengers who supplied his name, Robert Lee Robinson, 26, of Jackson, and the information was checked through the state computer. There were no known warrants for his arrest. As Harrell prepared to notify him that he was free to go, he fled and was located about four hours later after apparently breaking into a local church. Robinson was then arrested by Clarke County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Carlisle and charged with burglary. The Alabama Game and Fish Enforcement Division assisted in the arrest. The theft of an automobile was reported to Chief Harrell on Wednesday, Aug. 16. As the report was being taken, the vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet pickup, was spotted on Highway 84 in Coffeeville by a fireman and pursuit was immediately initiated by Harrell. Request for assistance was issued to Choctaw County officers and the vehicle was located at a package store on Highway 84 in Choctaw County. When the driver saw police he fled into the woods. The passenger in the vehicle, Tina Coxwell Rone, 35, of Gilbertown, also fled through the store and was arrested shortly after. The driver, Curtis Gregory Gainer, 41, of Gilbertown was pursued late into the night and evaded capture. Assisting in the search were the Choctaw County Sheriff's Office, Gilbertown Police Department, Alabama Department of Public Safety Aviation, Highway Patrol and Alabama Bureau of Investigation Divisions, Alabama Game and Fish Enforcement, Clarke County Sheriff's Office, Choctaw County Emergency Management Agency and the Alabama Department of Corrections.
