Jackson man faces child rape charges

Jackson Police have arrested a 3 8 - y e a r - o l d man and charged him with two counts of first degree rape and one count of first degree sexual abuse.

Walter Anthony Patrick, of Jackson, was arrested last Tuesday night and booked into the Clarke County Jail.

Patrick allegedly had sexual intercourse with a female less than 12 years of age on at least two occasions during the years 2002 and 2003. He also allegedly had deviate sexual contact with the same child on at least one occasion during the same time period. The abuse continued up until one month ago.

Police decline to release more information as the investigation is ongoing. However, at this time there appears to be only one victim.

Patrick remains in the Clarke County Jail, pending making an $80,000 bond.

The case will be presented to Clarke County Grand Jury. Deputy Chief Mark Harrell is the investigating officer.
