Coffeeville RSVP to meet The Coffeeville RSVP will be meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2 p.m. at the Coffeeville Nutrition Center. Members are invited to bring a friend. JHS Quarterback Club to meet The Jackson High School Quarterback Club will meet on Monday, Aug. 28, 6 p.m. in the library at Jackson High School. Clarke County Historical Society meeting Sunday The Clarke County Historical Society will be meeting on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2:30 p.m. at the Grove Hill Town Hall. Vallee Hicks will present a program on steamboats. Her research has discovered a wealth of information on steamboats that stopped at the Clarke County landings, including some boats that were actually constructed in Clarke County. The public is invited to attend. Clarke County Mounted Sheriff's Posse horse show The Clarke County Mounted Sheriff's Posse will be conducting a horse show on Saturday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m. at the Roy Miller Arena located on Allen Road in Grove Hill. For more information call 246-9266. Beckham family reunion planned The descendants of Missouri and Frank Beckham will gather for a reunion set for Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Municipal Park in Jackson. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. All family members are encouraged to attend. There will also be a dinner on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 2:15 p.m. JMS open house and PTO meeting Jackson Middle School will be conducting their Open House and PTO meeting on Monday, Aug. 28. Parents and guardians are invited to the school to meet the teachers. A prize will be given to the classroom that has the most students represented. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. LHS PTO workday Aug. 26 The Leroy High School PTO workday is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 26 at 7:30 a.m. Everyone is asked to participate. JHS Class of 1979 to be recognized The Jackson High School Quarterback Club will recognize the members of the JHS 1979 championship football team on Sept. 22 during the pregame ceremony. VFW 5355 meetings The VFW Post 5355 and ladies auxiliary meets the third Thursday of every month, 6 p.m., at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road. Members are urged to attend and new members are welcome. Sickle Cell support Sickle Cell education and support group meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m., at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Diabetic support The Diabetic Support Group meets the first and third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the dining room at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Parden Family reunion Sept. 2 The Parden Family reunion will be Saturday, Sept. 2 at Bethel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Coffeeville. NRA conducting dinner/auction Friends of the National Rifle Association (NRA) will be conducting a dinner and auction Saturday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m. at the Chatom Community Center. Tickets are $25 each. JHS Class of 1997 planning reunion The Jackson High School Class of 1997 is planning a 10-year reunion in 2007.
