Upcoming Events St. James A.M.E. Church A homecoming and revival is planned for the week of Sept. 3- 8 at St. James A.M.E. Church in Choctaw Bluff. The Rev. Ivory James, pastor of Greater New Hope A.M.E. Church in Millry will be the 2:30 p.m. homecoming guest speaker on Sunday, Sept. 3. The revival will begin on Monday, Sept. 4 and continue through Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 nightly. Evangelist for the week will be the Rev. Ernest Erby, pastor of Pine Level Baptist Church in Arlington. The Rev. Clausell Boykin, pastor, invites everyone to participate. Jones Chapel Methodist Protestant Church The Jones Chapel Methodist Protestant Church in Alma will be hosting a singing Sunday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. Admission is free but a love offering will be taken. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is asked to attend and to bring a guest. Rockville Baptist Church Homecoming at Rockville Baptist Church will be celebrated on Sunday, Aug. 20 with a message from the Rev. Jerry Gibson at 11 a.m. Pastor Mark Dunn invites everyone to attend. Dinner will follow on the grounds. St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Salitpa will be celebrating their homecoming and revival, Aug. 26 through Sept. 1. The celebration begins on Saturday, Aug. 26 with a Fun Day of activities from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on the church grounds. Sunday morning worship is 11:15 a.m. Pastor Van Williams of New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest speaker for the 2:30 p.m. service. Victory Grove Pentecostal Church Victory Grove Pentecostal Church in Wagarville will be hosting a gospel singing on Saturday, Aug. 26 beginning at 7 p.m. Featured guests will be The Arenos of Sulphur, La. Pastor Glenn Sullivan invites everyone to attend. Sullivan Family to perform The Sullivan Family will be conducting a gospel singing on Friday, Aug. 18, 7 p.m. at Seven Oaks Baptist Church. Also singing will be Mooch Kirkland and others. Admission is free but a love offering will be taken. Rocky Mount Baptist Church Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Barlow Bend will be conducting their homecoming and revival Aug. 20-25. The Sunday service will be at 2 p.m. with the revival beginning at 7 p.m. Revival services will be conducted at 7 nightly. The Rev. Bruce Johnson will be preaching the word for homecoming and revival services. The Rev. King David Jackson, pastor, invites everyone to attend. Little Burrah Baptist Church The Little Burrah Baptist Church family invites everyone to celebrate the 16th anniversary of their pastor, the Rev. William Jackson on Saturday, Aug. 26. There will be a gospel singing beginning at 6:30 p.m. All groups, choirs and soloists are invited to participate. The service will climax on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Jackson and the Mt. Olive No. 1 Baptist Church in Rockville as the special guests. Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Salitpa The members of the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Salitpa will continue their revival Friday, Aug. 18. Thursday (today) night's speaker will be the Rev. Craig Westry of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in McIntosh. Elder Zack Bouie of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. will speak on Friday. The Rev. Derrick Powell, pastor of Good Hope, invites everyone to attend. Pine Chapel Baptist Church No. 2 Pine Chapel Baptist Church No. 2 in Jackson is hosting a revival Aug. 14-18 at 7 nightly. The evangelist for the week will be the Rev. Darrell Brooks, pastor of Wellington Street Baptist Church in Mobile. The Rev. Frederick Thompson Sr., pastor, invites everyone to attend. Inspirational Tabernacle Church A revival continues through Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. at Inspirational Tabernacle Church in Jackson. Special guests will be Pastor Clayton Davis, Minister Sharon King, Pastor L. Richardson and others. Everyone is invited to attend, said Evangelist Beverly Jackson, acting pastor. New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church The New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Choctaw Bluff will be hosting its church anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Taylor, pastor of Antioch A.M.E. Church in Alma. The Rev. Van Williams invites everyone to attend. "Journey to Financial Freedom" "Journey to Financial Freedom", a Crown Financial Ministries seminar sponsored by the First Baptist and First United Methodist churches in Jackson, will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church Christian Life Center on Aug. 25-26. The seminar has been used to open the door to total financial freedom for thousands of Christian families, according to a spokesman for Crown Financial Ministries. The Friday night session will begin at 7 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. and Saturday's session, 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served during the Saturday session. Church in Millry will be hosting its annual homecoming celebration on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Mulvoy Taylor Jr., pastor of Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Walker Springs. Revival services will begin Aug. 21 and continue through Aug. 25 at 7 nightly. Evangelist will be the Rev. W.J. Carter, pastor of New Vision Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Miss. The Rev. Ivory James, pastor, invites everyone to attend. Cedar Point Baptist Church Cedar Point Baptist Church in Coffeeville will be hosting its annual homecoming and revival beginning on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Craig Purchase of Full Gospel Tabernacle Church of Joliet, Ill. will bring the message. Dinner will be served following the service. The revival will begin on Monday, Aug. 21 and continue through Friday, Aug. 25 at 7 nightly. The Rev. Jimmy McCarty of Mobile will be the speaker for the week.
