Rural supplier conference
U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (standing right at podium) drew laughter and applause when he announced at Wednesday's Rural National Supplier Conference in Thomasville that he was celebrating his 37th wedding anniversary that day. James Pillsbury, commander of the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, headquartered at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville and Gov. Bob Riley. Congressman Jo Bonner was also on the program. This was the second year for national contractors such as Boeing, Northrop Grumman and others to join NASA, the U.S. Army and other governmental agencies in Thomasville to promote better awareness and cooperation with rural businesses. The day-long event was held on the campus of Alabama Southern Community College and drew a good crowd.
