Mr. Bailey and Miss Walker exchange vows in Sunflower
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Irvin Bailey Victoria Lynn Walker and Benjamin Irvin Bailey were united in marriage on Feb.18, 2006 at Sunflower Methodist Church in Sunflower.
The groom's father, the Rev. Richard Irvin Bailey officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Angie and Joe Overstreet of Sunflower, Marshall Walker of Jackson, and the Rev. and Mrs. Richard Irvin Bailey of Daphne.
Bows of white and silver ribbon with ivy accented the entrance doors of the church.
Two large arrangements of scarlet roses and white gladiolus were placed on the altar. They were framed with white tulle and candelabra with white tapers.
A silver unity candle candelabra decorated with white and silver ribbon was placed near the altar. After the mothers lit their candles and were seated, Leslie Hendricks, cousin of the bride, sang, "You Raise Me Up". She sang "Shine On Us" during the lighting of the unity candle. Nuptial music was presented by Cookie Kellam of Mt. Vernon.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white gown of tulle over satin designed by Alfred Angelo. The sweetheart detailed neckline, and fitted bodice with spaghetti straps was fashioned with crystal beading. The full ballroom skirt flowed from a fitted basque waistline and was embellished with sequins. The chapel length train, also embellished with sequins, flowed from the waist. The bride wore her mother's veil which had multiple layers of bridal illusion attached to a headpiece accented with sequins and pearls.
Maid of honor was Christina Walker of Sunflower, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Jessica Gartman and Paige Gartman, both of Leroy, cousins of the bride and Jennifer Bailey of Daphne, sister of the groom.
Serving as junior bridesmaid was Ginger Gartman of St. Stephens, cousin of the bride.
They wore scarlet satin floorlength A-line gowns with various bodice styles and carried a long-stem red rose accented with baby's breath and silver ribbon.
The flower girl, Amanda Overstreet, sister of the bride, wore a tea length white satin dress accented at the bodice with scarlet roses and ribbon and carried a white basket filled with rose petals.
Serving as best man was Asa Baugh of Whatley.
Groomsmen were Jimmy Pho of Mobile, Stephen Moore of Foley and Jeff Humphrey of Stapleton.
Daniel Waters attended as junior groomsman.
Ushers were Chris Harris and Dale Harris, both of Whatley, cousins of the bride.
Ringbearer was Joseph Harris of Whatley, cousin of the bride. He carried a white satin pillow edged with lace.
Reception
The reception was held at the Ciba-Geigy Union Hall. An outdoor garden theme was used throughout the hall.
At the entrance, a white bird bath held bags filled with birdseed. A white garden table held the bride's book and was attended by Jennifer Gartman.
A white garden arch decorated with vines and red roses and banked with Boston ferns, served as the backdrop for the bride's table.
The bride's table, covered with white lace, held a threetiered wedding cake accented with ivory roses and greenery, made by Hester Blankenship, aunt of the bride.
The centerpiece was a silver candelabra. Strawberry slush punch was served from a silver punch bowl which was surrounded by a wreath of iridescent crystals.
The groom's table held a chocolate cake with chocolate covered cherries and fresh strawberries, also dipped in chocolate, mints and nuts.
Guests' tables were draped with red cloths and were centered with crystal hurricane lamps placed on mirror tiles sprinkled with crystal beads and rose petals.
An assortment of finger foods including veggie pizza, cheese ball with crackers, chicken salad sandwiches, sweet and sour meatballs, vegetable tray, were served by Suzanne Harrell, Ann Seibert, Faye Johnson, Tonya Baugh and Carol Baugh.
After a honeymoon to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple is residing in Mobile.
