Donald seeks Clarke Co. District 3 BOE seat
Donald Karen B. Donald has qualified as a Democratic candidate for school board, District 3 seat. A native of the Winn community and resident of Jackson, Donald is the daughter of the late Evelyn Baldwin and Robert Lee Bumpers Sr.
A1971 graduate of Coffeeville High School, she holds a bachelor of science and master of education degree from the Alabama State University of Montgomery.
She has taught 24 years at Coffeeville Elementary School retiring in 1999. Recognized as Clarke County Teacher of the Year in 1983 and Who's Who Among America's Teachers 1994.
Donald is a member of the Berry's Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church of Winn and serves as trustee, a member of the Usher Board, Program Committee and choir. She is also a member of Amies Pride Chapter No. 590 Order of Eastern Star.
Her civic affiliations include board of directors for the Children's Advocacy Center of Clarke County, Jackson Recreation Center, Sickle Cell Disease Association of Mobile, Clarke County Education Retirees Association, Alabama Education Retirees Association, Inc. and the National Education Retirees Association.
Donald says, "Being recently retired, I have a fresh perspective of the child's needs in the classroom and the ability to work with administration and parents in improving classroom learning. It is my desire to serve District 3 and Clarke County as an advocate for students and education. I solicit your prayers and vote."
