Leroy High School Class of 1996 is planning a 10-year class reunion.

JPD Relay for

Life team

. Each donation of $1 to the JPD Relay for Life Team will entitle you to a chance to win an ice chest filled with barbecue goodies.

All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

The drawing will be conducted on Friday, April 28 at the JPD Relay for Life booth.

I.M.C. Family Medical Easter Egg Hunt

An Easter egg hunt is planned for Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon behind Family Medical in Jackson.

I.M.C. Family Medical is sponsoring the event.

Children will be able to have their photo taken with the Easter bunny. The cost of a 5x7 photo is $15.

There will also be face painting, prizes, popcorn and games.

All proceeds will benefit "Relay for Life."

Alzheimer's

support group

A support group for caregivers of Alzheimer's victims is in the process of being formed. The support group will help caregivers to better understand and cope with caring for their loved ones. For more information call Debbie McClure at 334-636-2841, home, or 334-637-1143, work.

WCHS Athletic Club meeting

There will be a Washington County High School Athletic Club meeting in the AG-building behind the high school on Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m.

The club is selling football ad's for the 2006 program.

The Coffeeville RSVP will meet April 4 at 2 p.m. at the Nutrition Center.

JHS Class of 1977 planning reunion

The Jackson High School Class of 1977 will be meeting on Sunday, March 26, 3:30 p.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse to discuss plans on an upcoming reunion in 2007.

All classmates are invited to participate.

ClarkeCo. Historical Society to meet

The Clarke County Historical Society will be conducting a meeting on Sunday, March 26, 2:30 p.m. at the Grove Hill Town Hall.

Randy Luker, an employee of Scotch Lumber Company, will present the program. He will discuss the variety of Native American artifacts that can be found in Clarke County and will display his collection.

The public is invited to attend.

LHS Class of 1956 50th Class Reunion April 22

Leroy High School Class of 1956 50th Class Reunion will be held April 22 at the Chatom Recreation Center.

Reservations must be made ASAP. Other classes are also invited.

WCHS presents

Miss Maroon and Gold

The Washington County High School Student Council will be sponsoring the Miss Maroon and Gold 2006 pageant on Monday, March 27, 7 p.m. in the Washington County auditorium.

Tickets at the door are $10. The theme is "Shanghai Nights."

Spring Jubilee set

for April 22

The Spring Jubilee 2006 is set for Saturday, April 22 at CCARC.

Events include a 5K-one mile fun walk, Cruisin' for CCARC motorcycle ride, a "Dog Walk and Dog Show", County-wide Tasting Fare, and a silent art auction, with personalized artwork, such as ceramics, paintings, painted tiles created by the people we support, plant sale from the CCARC new greenhouse and entertainment by "After Five", and activities for children.

Jackson Arts and Crafts show

The Jackson Arts and Crafts Club will be hosting a "Spring Art Show" on Saturday, April 1 at the Kimbell House in Jackson.

The show will be 2-4 p.m. and refreshments will be served.

FUMC Bazaar April 1

The First United Methodist Church in Jackson will be conducting its Annual Bazaar on Saturday, April 1 beginning at 7 a.m.

Booths will include homemade treasures, sewing, crochet, crosstitch, needlepoint, china painting, scrapbooking, knitting, crafts and more.

Other booths will also include cookbooks, plants, holiday items, homemade frozen foods and canned goods, wood and metal designs, children's crafts. Lunch and concessions will be sold.

Chicken salad, pasta salad and fruit salad plates will be sold for $6. To preorder, call the church office at 246-2224.

Caring Hearts Center conducting

Easter sale

The Caring Hearts Center, a ministry of Washington Baptist Association, will be conducting its half price Easter sale on April 3 through April 8.

Every item in the store will be available at half price.

Senior adults, age 60 and above, will also find a half price sale every Thursday.

The store opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 2 p.m each weekday. Extended hours on Thursday to 6 p.m. and on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. until 12 noon.

ECI Inc. hosting Springtacular Celebration

The Exceptional Children, Inc. (ECI) will be hosting its 5th Annual Springtacular Celebration on Saturday, April 1 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Ellis Lake and Community Center in Chatom.

This year's event will feature the Jr. Angler's Bass Fishing Tournament, Casting Tournament for the "big guys", Gumbo Cook-off and a Silent Auction that will include vacation packages, artwork, and sports equipment, games for the children and much more.

27th Chunnuggee Fair in Union Springs

The 27th Annual Chunnenuggee Fair in Union Springs is scheduled for April 29. The fair is a juried arts and crafts celebration with cash prizes awarded, totalling $500.

There will be live outdoor entertainment with "Mike Watson and the MWB blues band" from Atlanta, Ga., the mariachi band, "Garibaldi", games and rides for children of all ages.

The Bullock County Historical Society will be offering homemade cakes. There is no admission charge and everyone is invited.

Bluegrass Festival April 4-8 in Leakesville, Miss.

Greene County Rural Events Center in Leakesville, Miss. will be hosting a Bluegrass Festival April 4-8.

The event, centered around music, will feature a variety of fun activities for all ages, heritage demonstrations and top quality entertainment.

Thirteen top name national Mississippi bluegrass bands are scheduled to perform stage shows beginning on Tuesday and continuing through Saturday.

Wednesday night will feature a worship service with all gospel music and Tuesday will include a drama presentation as well as a nation touring bluegrass band, Ronnie Reno and Reno Tradition.

Highlighting the five-day festival will be other national name bands including The James King Band, Pine Mountain Railroad and The Gary Waldrep Band.

Arts Council of Grove Hill photography

contest

The Arts Council of Grove Hill will sponsor a photography contest April 2006. It is the desire of the council to promote an interest in art through photography. Your Own Backyard is defined as Clarke County, Alabama.

The photos will be on exhibit April 28 - 30 at the Grove Hill United Methodist Church.

Superior 96-100, Excellent 86-95, Good 76-85, Average 66-75, Fair 0-65

Awards

First, Second, and Third Place ribbons will be awarded in each category of each division. A Best of Show ribbon will be awarded in each division.
