Girl Scouts of the Deep South Council is giving women ages 21 and up a chance to break out of their daily routine or to relive Girl Scout memories at a "Big Girls Go Camping" fund-raiser Monday, April 3 - Tuesday, April 4 at the Beckwith Camp and Conference Center on Weeks Bay in Baldwin County.

This camp-out will offer social, networking and educational opportunities, as well as a wine tasting and gourmet dinner prepared by Robert Yarbrough of The Wash House Restaurant in Point Clear.

Courses such as pilates, golf, makeup makeovers, cooking, Internet shopping, soap making and more will be offered, as well as discussions of women's health issues by Mobile physician Dr. Kathleen Inge.

Proceeds from the event will help send Girl Scouts to camp and ensure their participation in other enrichment activities, as well as provide outreach to girls who otherwise would not experience Girl Scouting programs. Proceeds from each county will be earmarked to benefit girls in those counties.

Currently, the Deep South Council serves girls through outreach programs in public housing communities, schools, children's homes, abuse shelters, detention centers and community programs.

The Deep South Council, a United Way agency, serves girls and adults in the following Alabama counties: Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Clarke, Choctaw, Monroe, Escambia and Conecuh.

Registration begins Monday, April 3 at 1:30 p.m., followed by classes, a wine tasting, dinner and an evening program. Breakfast and courses continue Tuesday, April 4 through lunch.

This all-inclusive overnight event is $150 per person. Group rates are $130 per person with a minimum of 10 per group.
