JPD welcomes new police officer to force
Norman “Buzzy” Jordan joined the Jackson Police Department May 9 as a patrol officer, bringing with him 14 years of experience with the Mobile Police Department. A Mobile native and a 1976 graduate of Baker High School, Jordan did electrical mechanics work until 1988 when he decided to change careers. “I’ve always enjoyed working with people,” he said, “and I had a desire to do some kind of public service work.” Jordan’s law enforcement career began in 1988 when he went to work as an auxiliary officer for the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department. He is a graduate of the Southwest Alabama Police Academy in Bay Minette. “My philosophy as a police officer is to treat people how I would want to be treated,” Jordan said. Besides being a regular patrol officer, he is also a certified hazmat truck inspector and a trained motorcycle officer as well. In his free time, Jordan enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing and his passion, drag racing. His wife, the former Terri Guy, is originally from the Jackson area. They have one daughter, Jessica Ladner.
