Boston butt sale

Shriners’ Easter Boston butts will be available for pickup on Saturday, April 10 at the Shriners’ building after 9 a.m.

To order contact any Shriner.

Shriners Trail Ride

There will be a Shriners Trail Ride on May 1 at the Chuck Reynolds Camp in Tibbie. Located on Highway 20 on Four Points Road.

Directions include following Highway 17 to Highway 20 West or Highway 45 to Highway 20 East and follow the signs.

Wagons and buggies are welcome. Event fee of $10 per single and $25 per family includes a BBQ supper on Saturday and camping is available at no additional charge.

VFW 5355 meetings

The VFW Post 5355 will meet the third Thursday of every month, 6 p.m., at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road.

Members are urged to attend and new members are welcome.

Mt. Nebo Pastor Appreciation Day

Pastors and members of all churches are invited to attend "Pastor Appreciation Day" at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Carlton on Sunday, April 11 at 2 p.m.

Guest speaker and guests will be the Rev. Kevin Jackson and the Mt. Olive No. 1 Baptist Church of Rockville.

The Rev. King David Jackson, pastor, and Annie Thomas, program director, invite everyone to attend.

Tennis team car wash

The Jackson High School Tennis Team will conduct a car wash to help raise money for the team, in the side parking lot of Wal-Mart this Friday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Benefit golf tourney

The Kent (Chief) Cochran Benefit Golf Tournament will be held at Deerfield Golf Course in Chatom, May 1, beginning at 1 p.m. The event will be a two-man bash format. Entry fee is $50 per person. Barbeque plates will also be on sale. Cash payouts will be awarded to the first, second and third place teams. The tournament is limited to 40 teams. Old Time Fiddler’s Convention

The annual Old Time Fiddler’s Convention will be held Saturday, April 17 at the old Frankville School Building. The event will feature a music competition that begins at 7:30 p.m., plus a 16 year old and under competition. The event will also include an old fashioned pit barbeque, cake auction, and full concession stand.

AARP meets Monday

The monthly meeting of the local chapter of AARP will be Monday, April 12, 2 p.m. at the downtown fire station in Jackson.

Dwain Treadwell, district AARP coordinator, will speak on the Medicare drug program for senior citizens.

Everyone age 50 and older is invited to attend.

Diabetic Support

The Diabetic Support Group meets the first and third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the dining room at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
